The Athens City Schools Board of Education operates the System and manages for its annual budget. The six-member School Board meets on the second Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. Locations for each meeting can be found on the annual schedule of meetings.
Board Chariman Mike Bevins Named Man of the Year
Congratulations to Mike Bevins, chairman of the Athens City Schools School Board, who was named "Man of the Year" by the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce at the Chamber's 67th Annual Banquet on Thursday, January 31, 2013. Bevins is pictured with his wife Kathy.

Athens City Schools' Board policy states that staff members or citizens of the district may suggest items for the agenda.
"For items to be considered on the agenda, they must be received in the director of schools' office five (5) days prior to the scheduled date of the meeting. The person(s) requesting an item on the agenda shall forward any background information to the director of schools' office so that the material will be included in the delivery to the board members prior to the meeting."
