The Four Star Pre-K Program of the Athens City Schools is a voluntary program for children who are or will be age four on or before September 30 of that school year. Currently, there are seven Pre-K classes. Four classes are located at City Park School and three are at Ingleside School.
Registration for the 2013-2014 school year will take place on May 10, 2013, at both City Park and Ingleside Schools. You should register your child at the school he or she will attend, and your child should attend the registration with you.
To register your child for the Pre-K Program, please bring the child's Certified Birth Certificate, Tennessee Immunization Certificate, Social Security card, verification of family income and two proofs of residence. A child entering Pre-K must be four years old on or before August 31, 2013.

Complete details from the state can be seen at the Athens City Schools website (athenscityschools.net—click on “School Nurse and Health Information”—then click on “Parent Letter…”) Rising pre-schoolers must show proof of the following vaccines in order to attend school in the Fall of 2013: - 3 or 4 DTP (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis) (your doctor or health care provider will decide this) - 3 IPV/OPV (polio) - 3 HBV (hepatitis B) (new requirement) - 4 Hib (haemophilus influenzae type B) - 4 PCV (pneumococcal conjugate vaccine) (new requirement) - 1 MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) - 1 Varicella (chickenpox) - 1 HAV (Hepatitis A) (new requirement) ***You may want to take this letter with you when you go to your child’s healthcare provider*** In addition, all immunizations must be recorded on the new Certificate of Immunization form. This form available at your private health care provider's office or the local health department. A complete school physical examination performed by your primary health care provider is also required before school entry; proof of that physical will be recorded on that same new certificate. PLEASE MAKE APPOINTMENTS FOR THESE PHYSICALS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE; the later you wait, the less likely you will be able to meet this requirement. As always, if you have any questions about this or any other health care issues, please feel free to call me. The phone number at Ingleside is 745-3671, and at City Park the number is 745-3862. I will be glad to help you in any way I can. Connie Akers, BSN, RN
