The McMinn County Education Foundation (MCEF) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization funded entirely through contributions. MCEF is dedicated to ‘Igniting a Partnership Between Schools and the Community to Develop Quality Citizens.’
When McMinn County was searching for innovative methods to bring more industry to the area, the Economic Development Administration shared that with the formation of an education foundation, McMinn could earn Three-Star Community status. That status was a ‘perk’ to bring more industry and business to the area. More jobs would mean more citizens could earn a better living; resulting in better equipped schools to attract master teachers and higher qualified workers.
With the help of education and industry, the McMinn County Education and Community Foundation was formed. MCEF celebrated its 12th birthday in 2009 with six amazing programs to link community and education, beginning at birth through high school graduation.
